After taking inspiration from Danny Lyon's black and white images of outlaw bikers riding from one end of the country to the other, Phillip Lim decided to capture this rebellious vibe and spin it into something completely modern for fall.
“It was about journeying into a paradise that’s been lost," Lim told Vogue of his latest collection.“The whole fantasy of a biker is va va voom, tight, tight, tight, but this is about ease. At the end of the day, she has to roll up her sleeves and go to work!”
Which is the beauty of Lim's creations. Leather pants were paired with lightweight varsity jackets, and biker-style blazers were designed in chiffon fabrics to lend a sense of ease to the collection, and a playful vibe to an otherwise dark topic. Lim also transformed his biker babe into a lady who lunches by adding embellishment to the necklines of his silk toppers and by creating well tailored separates that would sit nicely in any style maven's closet ...
With a collection like this, I would join Lim's biker gang any day of the week.
