There are many things that Olivier Rousteing is doing right after taking the helm at Balmain, but his newest take on chic outerwear for the modern girl is our favorite part of his entire fall collection. The exaggerated silhouettes in juxtaposition to the bare legs and body skimming skirts and pants show the designer's range, knack for playing with proportions, and that he knows how to bring that coveted touch of androgyny to what use to be a sexually charged label during Decarnin's reign.
What may seem like a simple, yet beautifully constructed jacket to most is actually one of the first signs of change we are seeing from the label since Decarnin abruptly left. Many have criticized the young Rousteing for sticking to the Decarnin script too closely. However, if this eighties-inspired jacket is any indication of things to come for the label and from the new designer then we think he is all but headed into the right direction.
