From The Runway.Céline Fall 2012

Who better to create a collection for practical, yet chic working women then the woman who can do it all herself, Phoebe Philo. The designer, mom, and business woman seems to have taken inspiration out of her own closet when she created her latest fall collection for Céline. The oversized silhouettes on everything from knee length coats to voluminous trousers and tops screamed practicality rather then the flash or excess seen at other shows this season. However, no woman wants to look dowdy and no designer wants to create something that is expected, so Philo added blocks of color, zippers, and the occasional brightly hued mink for good measure. Although these beautifully crafted pieces may read a bit loud for some (take for instance the topper that incorporates all three elements in one harmonious statement) but we see each piece as a separate that would work seamlessly into any wardrobe...

With a new movement of designers trying to capture the essence of the modern working girl, we find Philo's collection to be quite the breath of fresh air with her emphasis on making a statement, but not sacrificing comfort to do so.
