After spending a month in Nepal, Jack McCoullough and Lazaro Hernandez came back with a fresh perspective and a whole lot of inspiration for their fall 2012 collection.
The duo behind Proenza Schouler took inspiration from the samurai uniforms worn by kendo swordsmen to create their newest pieces for this coming season. The pair experimented with boxier silhouettes, new materials like woven leather that resembled a cage with something quite lovely peeking through underneath, clean lines that were outlined by the most unexpected details like zippers, and shiny fabrics to create one of the most jaw dropping collections at New York Fashion Week.
"We like something slouchy," the duo told Vogue of their new silhouettes, including the wide leg pants that stomped down the runway with vengeance during their fall show.
However, even though the color palette for the collection was mostly muted, with the occasional pop of burnt orange, burgundy, and light teal, the designer's use of texture and layers made the collection a very dynamic one. In fact, it is this magnificent texture that makes these drool worthy pieces so visually appealing and something that will be coveted by fashion editors, street style bloggers, and "it girls" around the world...
Not just in New York.
