Backstage & Candids @ Prabal Gurung Fall 2012

Leave it to the boy genius Prabal Gurung to take New York Fashion Week by storm and create a show stopping collection with a little inspiration from a famed Georgia O'Keeffe image, religious oil paintings, a decaying cow skull, and a genetically modified blue rose.

“I was inspired by the process of creating something new. Part of it was the uncursing of the rose and part of it was spiritual,” Prabal told Vogue.

Gurung's spring collection left many wondering if the young designer could keep the momentum going for fall, and with one cow skull in an assortment of colors, prints, shapes, and sizes applied in an oh so heavenly fashion to a variety of well tailored pieces, the designer put all of those worries to rest. The collection transitioned from dark and heavy fabrics like wool, to lighter more airy fabrics like chiffon. Each look however was accessorized with cow skull jewelry, a heavy blue eye, and that sense of decadence that the designer has become so well known for.

It looks as if the designer has done it once again by keeping us on our toes, and has us looking forward to what is next...
