It seems American designers have finally found a way to merge their love of sportswear with that classic European vibe of ladylike sophistication. It has been the underlying tone in many of the collections shown at this year's spring collections.
However, there is one collection that has us drooling, and that would be that of Prabal Gurung.
The color palette alone is enough to be a show stopper, with its varied hues of purple and pops of turquoise thrown in for measure. However, what really has us salivating is the criss cross rope belts, designed by Zana Bayne, that Gurung used to play down the sweetness of the collection and the use of prints that mirrored a techni-colored version of Rorschach's ink blot test, rather then the dainty floral patterns we have seen in many of the other collections. Oh, and then there were the flashes of skin one could see through the laser cut outs that had been covered with a sheer mesh-like fabric and randomly placed on various areas of the pieces.
Trend maybe?
Well, at least we think so.
In terms of the heat index for next summer...
Well let's just say with a collection like Prabal Gurung's, it is going to be sizzling.
